The picture cleared up after this. The components that cause a corruption in the Luminance signal are C7001 and C7036. These are surface mounted capacitors rated at 4.7 mfd @ 16 vdc. These capacitors were bad in this unit. Careful replacement with small radial capacitors corrected the problem. (However not recommended) The right capacitors are available from MCM as a KIT. It is a good idea to ESR all the electrolytics in this module. My experience has been that the bad capacitors are found outside the shielded compartment. |

It does contain several surface mounted electrolytics and is also a dual trace board. Several of these electrolytics are known to leak. The fluid from the capacitors is corrosive and eats up the traces and plate-thru holes in the circuit board.. | This unit has a defective C7001 and a plate-through-hole that was damaged by the fluid. Tech had to passed a very small diameter wire (32ga) through the plate-thru hole and solder it to both sides to complete connection between the top and bottom of board. Care must be done to remove these electrolytics. A technique that works well for me is to use solder flux either paste or liquid, a soldering iron at 600 degrees tip temperature, and a conical tip. Saturate the legs of the capacitor with flux and alternate the melting of the solder on each leg. Do this quickly so the solder remains semi fluid. Then with a single tap of the tip of the iron, knock the capacitor over in the direction of one of the solder lands. This technique has worked 100% of the time for me. Never had a torn trace. Avoid solder wick with this board. Install the new capacitors and clean the board with flux remover. |

played around and got perfection on this Mitsubishi CK35702 PIP board that
uses the non-bypassable 005 board (no longer available, no bypass board
available). The normal bypass is a cap from 5 to 11 for the luma. The problem
on this set is that we need 1V PP out at pin 11 but we have 2V PP coming in
at pin 5....The solution is to put the - side of a 4.7uf cap to pin 5 and put
the + side to a 2.7k resistor, the other end of this resistor goes to pin 11.
Then take a 4.7k resistor, attach one end to pin 11 and the other end to
ground at pin 4 . This drops the 2vPP to 1VPP. I do this with the VP
connector off the PIP board and use the connector only. For the chroma I use
a 1uf cap from pins 7 to 9 with the - at pin 7. The pix after the bypass was
perfect. I looked at bright and dark scenes and text, and the white box on
QVC. No smearing, no glowing, no tearing, no red flames. This looked as good
